At Apax, our nomination as a finalist for the UK Company Culture Awards in the Best Team Culture category isn’t just a recognition—it’s a testament to our journey, dedication, and the transformative power of embodying our core values. As a non-profit social enterprise, Apax is deeply committed to delivering exceptional assisted living and premium supported housing services to some of the most vulnerable members of society. This mission requires a strong, united team that’s not just working together but thriving together. Here’s our story.

The Essence of Apax

With a team of 53 dedicated individuals, we’ve maintained a remarkable 97.7% retention rate in 2023, a clear indicator of our healthy and vibrant team culture. Our team spans from front-line support workers to head-office staff, each embodying the essence our core values: Unity, Excellence, Kindness, Humility, Continuous Learning, Fairness, and Strength in our People and Partners. These values are not just words but the lifeblood of our operations, guiding us in delivering our mission.

Cultural Initiatives and Impact

Our journey to embedding a collaborative, united team culture—crucial for safeguarding our vulnerable residents—began with a cultural transformation. Key initiatives included culture interviews for potential hires, anti-bullying measures, and embracing The Virtues Project to inspire the practice of virtues in everyday life. Digital transformation was pivotal in overcoming the challenges of outdated processes, with technology enabling us to streamline operations and foster a more inclusive, learning-focused environment. The results speak volumes: improved efficiency, significant resident step-downs, and a tangible sense of empowerment among our team.

Testimonials and Achievements

The feedback from our team and the communities we serve has been overwhelmingly positive. “Working at Apax since 2014 has been a thrilling journey,” shares Miria, promoted from Recovery Coordinator to Learning & Development Lead. “Apax is a passionate, values-driven organisation that strives for excellence and demonstrates virtues at every opportunity,” echoes Israa Qaddourah, a Project Manager. These sentiments are echoed across our team, underscoring a deep commitment to our mission and values.

Why Apax Stands Out

Our nomination for this award reflects our evolution from a small non-profit to a cohesive, modern, and digital-first organisation that prioritises employee experience and continuous improvement. Our commitment to not just preaching but practicing our values through new digital channels and a focus on learning and development sets us apart.
