We’re thrilled that Propeller has been shortlisted for the UK Company Culture Awards in the Best Agency to Work For (Medium) Category! This is a major milestone for us—an opportunity to celebrate the team and culture that have been at the heart of our success for over 24 years. It’s a reflection of everything we’ve worked so hard to build, and we couldn’t be prouder of the incredible people who make Propeller the vibrant agency it is today.

Who We Are

At Propeller, we’re a digital agency that’s been around for over two decades, specialising in SEO, PPC, CRO, web development and social media. We’ve had the privilege of partnering with iconic brands like Young’s, Aman, Marstons, Azzurri Group, Hall & Woodhouse, Twinings and The Celtic Collection.

But we’re more than just the work we do for clients. We’re a team of 48 talented people, including offshore experts from around the world, who are passionate about making an impact- both internally and externally. Our mission is simple: work hard, be authentically you, deliver exceptional results, and help create a workplace where everyone loves what they do.

We take great pride in our diverse team – 57% of our staff identify as female, and 63% of our leadership team are women. We speak over 12 languages, and our culture thrives on the rich variety of perspectives and experiences we all bring. This diversity fuels our creativity and drives fresh, innovative solutions every day.

Our Entry into the UK Company Culture Awards

So, why did we enter the UK Company Culture Awards? It’s not just to showcase our digital expertise (although we’re proud of that!). We wanted to shine a light on the people-first culture we’ve cultivated at Propeller. We’re all about flexibility, growth, inclusivity and supporting one another, and we’re incredibly proud of the initiatives that make Propeller an extraordinary place to work.

Here’s a quick look at the key culture initiatives we entered for the awards:

  • Flexible Working: From hybrid working to our Work from Anywhere policy (introduced post-COVID), we recognise the importance of work-life balance. Our policies ensure everyone, from working parents to our wider UK team, can work in a way that suits their needs.
  • Well-Being Focus: Every team member receives an annual well-being budget, empowering them to invest in their physical and mental health. Whether it’s a gym membership, massage, cooking course, or spa retreat, the choice is theirs.
  • Collaboration and Inclusion: At Propeller, everyone’s voice matters. We foster a collaborative culture through monthly brainstorming sessions and by celebrating daily wins. Our collective success is something we share together, and teamwork is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Career Development: We believe in promoting from within. Many of our employees have been with us for over 10 years, growing their careers alongside the agency. We provide the resources and support to help everyone reach their full potential.

Why Being Shortlisted Means So Much to Us

Being shortlisted for the UK Company Culture Awards is a huge honour, and it’s a win for everyone at Propeller. This recognition reaffirms that when you prioritise your people, everyone thrives. It strengthens our belief that our core values – innovation, ambition, collaboration, and community – are not just ideals, but principles we live by every day.

As our Lead Project Manager, Lauren, says, “Propeller was my first job when I moved to London three and a half years ago, and I haven’t looked back! From day one, everyone was so welcoming, and I’ve made lifelong friends here… I’ve had the opportunity to grow in my role – from Project Manager to Senior Project Manager, and now to Lead Project Manager. The trust and support Propeller provides as you grow in your career makes it such a wonderful place to work.”.

The Tangible Impact of Our Culture

While being shortlisted is an exciting achievement, the real value lies in the tangible impact we see every day. Here’s how our culture initiatives translate into real-world results:

  • Long-Term Team Retention: Our average team tenure is 4.5 years, with many employees staying with us for over a decade. It’s not just about staying in a job, it’s about building careers and forming lasting relationships.
  • Career Growth: We’re committed to internal development, and many of our people have been promoted from within. Alex, our Head of Front-End Development, started as a Junior Developer and has been with Propeller for 8 years. We love seeing our team members rise through the ranks.
  • Driving Innovation: A culture that encourages collaboration and diverse perspectives drives innovation at Propeller. Our cross-team brainstorming sessions and open idea-sharing environment lead to creative problem-solving and cutting-edge solutions for our clients.

Looking Ahead to the UK Company Culture Awards and Beyond

We’re incredibly grateful to the team at Don’t Panic for helping us share the culture we’ve built here at Propeller. Being shortlisted for the UK Company Culture Awards is an achievement worth celebrating, and we’re committed to keeping that momentum going. Our goal is to continue growing, learning from our team, and ensuring that Propeller remains a place where everyone truly loves to work.

A huge thank you to our amazing team, our fantastic clients, and everyone who’s been part of this journey. We couldn’t do it without you!
