Blue Array picked up the Best Employee Development Programme (Agency) award at the inaugural Company Culture Awards in April 2021.

The UK’s largest specialist SEO agency has long been proud of its people-first culture and now they have an award win to back up the numerous success stories of developing its employees into SEO industry experts.

Head of People Operations at Blue Array, Sean Butcher said: “The award win has been really big for us, and it’s been cited by numerous job applicants as a reason for why they’re keen to join our team.

We’ve always tried to position ourselves as an employer which places a lot of focus on employee development, so to have the ‘proof’ of this, i.e. the external validation via the award, has really helped to boost our credentials from that perspective.”

The last 18 months have accelerated the digital industry job market for a number of reasons. Sean states that becoming an employer of ‘choice’ has become increasingly important as organisations look to attract talent to fill their vacancies.

“The pandemic has really seen our industry boom; many companies are investing in SEO and digital marketing for the first time, or have decided to focus even more of their spend in this area.

Combine this with the impact of Covid – a challenging time for people professionally and personally and where we’re now seeing employees everywhere reassessing what they want from their roles and careers. This has resulted in a huge amount of movement in the job market over the last year or so.

There are now far more roles available than good people to fill them, particularly in our industry. As an employer, it was therefore so important that we were able to demonstrate what candidates would gain from being part of the team here at Blue Array. For us, much of that boils down to how we can really help to support them grow and achieve their career ambitions, and we have some fantastic learning and development programmes and frameworks in place to facilitate that. We were delighted that the judges of the Company Culture Awards agreed with this.

Ultimately, it’s become more important than ever to sell the benefits of working for your organisation to your prospective employees. We feel that the award win has played a significant part in achieving just that, and we’ve been lucky enough to welcome over 20 fantastic new people to the Blue Array team in 2021.”
