Ogury is the leader in advertising solutions fueled by exclusive data and grounded in privacy. Since its foundation in the UK in 2014, the company has grown to become a global organization with a diverse team of 500+ people across 17 countries in the Americas, Europe and APAC.

We recognize the importance of building a workplace that puts its employees first, positively impacts the communities it works with and advocates for meaningful change. That’s why we couldn’t be more proud to have been shortlisted for ESG Program of the Year at the UK Company Culture Awards.

“At Ogury, dedication to ESG is deeply embedded in the company’s core values,” shares Blandine Kouyaté, Chief People Officer at Ogury. “The initiatives developed are not just events on a calendar, but pivotal and authentic opportunities to craft a sustainable workplace culture, optimizing internal processes and functioning to lower our carbon footprint. Ogury actually holds a Silver rating in leading carbon accounting platform Greenly’s Climate Rating System, which speaks volumes about our dedication to decarbonization. This places us among the top 10% of clients and underscores our strong commitment to reducing carbon emissions.”

A sustainability-focused company

If we look at the numbers, the digital advertising industry is one of the world’s biggest polluters, with the average digital advertising campaign emitting 5.4 tons of carbon dioxide – the equivalent to driving a vehicle over 20,000 km. In contrast, an average person’s annual emissions amount to 4 tons of carbon.

As a member of the Climate Pledge initiative, we are aware of our responsibility to address this pressing issue and have embarked on a journey to reduce our carbon footprint year by year to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. We allocated a substantial budget to sustainability initiatives in 2023, effectively doubling resources year on year. This investment was channeled towards the development and implementation of conscientious actions that pave the way for responsible change.

Following the completion of two global GHG Protocol assessments the years prior, 2023 marked a pivotal milestone for Ogury as we developed an action plan revolving around four pillars:

Continuous measurement – to monitor carbon emissions, enabling ongoing evaluation and

refinement of our sustainability approach.

Campaign emissions optimization – to focus on engineering and inventory strategies to

ensure optimized energy usage by our servers during advertising activities.

Ecosystem engagement – to actively seek ways to involve service providers and employees

in our sustainability journey.

Community contribution – to foster internal environmental initiatives and campaigns, ensuring

their visibility, utilization, and engagement among employees.

Leading by example

Unlike other digital advertising solutions that require significant server energy to process data and stock it, Ogury’s advertising solutions don’t process or stock IDs. This approach minimizes our server energy consumption, reducing our carbon footprint and streamlining our digital activities. Combined with a throttling process which prioritizes ad requests with higher chances of conversion, we can ensure real ROI for advertisers while further optimizing server energy usage.

What’s more, every service Ogury subscribes to and each activity performed by our employees generates a footprint for the company. In response to this challenge, we developed The Sustainable Future Program, designed to equip each employee with the necessary knowledge on sustainability, enabling them to actively participate in our journey toward a more environmentally conscious future.

We also created a Global ESG Lead role, held by an expert who completed rigorous training, and graduated from the Business Sustainability Management course provided by the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

Ogury is also a long-standing partner of responsible marketing and advertising solution Givsly and its Season without Swag, which focuses on charitable giving instead of physical gifts during the holiday season to reduce carbon emissions. Through this initiative, we made a total of $5,000 in charitable donations on behalf of our clients in 2023.

Over the past year, Ogury spearheaded many impactful ESG initiatives, fostering heightened awareness among employees and partners while supporting meaningful actions. As 2024 progresses, we remain committed to strengthening our sustainability efforts by increasing our budget and pursuing certification such as STBi or BCorp, showcasing our steadfast commitment to making a positive impact.
