We’re delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘Best Flexible Working Policy’ at this year’s UK Company Culture Awards.

The working world changed a lot following the outbreak of Covid-19 and we’ve been working with our team over the last few years to create a way of working that works for us. So, to be recognised for our innovative approach is fantastic.

In this blog, we’ll share a little more about who we are at QueryClick, what we do and why it’s great to be part of the UK Company Culture Awards.

Who are QueryClick?

So, who are QueryClick?

We are a performance marketing agency, with unique in-house attribution software. We combine our performance marketing services, such as SEO, PPC, Paid Social and Digital PR, with our attribution solution, Corvidae, to help clients remove wasted spend and grow at the lowest possible CPA.

The QueryClick vision and our core values lie at the heart of everything we do as a business. We aim to reinvent the future of marketing by delivering results that no one else can.  We use our flywheel to make that happen, bringing our vision, passionate people, and client-centred approach together in one continuous cycle. This builds momentum for sustainable growth while also inspiring innovation among our team and clients. And at QueryClick, “culture” is more than a buzzword.

Just as we look to reinvent the future of marketing; we also strive to be ahead of the curve when it comes to providing our team with the environment to do their best work – whatever that looks like!

So, following the pandemic and multiple lockdowns, we introduced our remote-first policy and have been continuing to develop it ever since.

What makes QueryClick special?

At QueryClick, we like to stand out from the crowd. We’re always trying to find new ways to approach situations that help separate us from other agencies and innovation is really at our core.

So, when it came to changing our ways of working, it was important to us that we took a different approach to this.

We put a lot of time and thought into developing a flexible working policy that is truly inclusive, and works for everyone, rather than implementing a blanket approach.

While researching existing approaches to flexible working, we noticed that companies will often implement a flexible way of working which supports certain groups of employees or has a list of restrictions or ‘rules’ attached. Or for some, these decisions will come from the top and won’t always consider how that policy works for every person in the company.

At QueryClick, our mission was simple: creating a flexible working policy inclusive to all.

That’s why it was so important to us that everyone across the business got involved in the process, from start to finish.

We held a series of retros and focus groups team wide – and since then we regularly communicate any changes and involve our team on how we could improve through ‘ask me anything’ and regular feedback loops.

Our innovative remote-first flexible working policy allows team members to manage their own time. We’ve thrown the traditional 9-5 out of the window, and instead Team QC can complete their work any time between 7am and 8pm – allowing them to create a working day that works for them.

We’re incredibly proud of the culture we’ve built and truly believe that our approach to flexible working has been key making QueryClick a fantastic place to work.

Taking things one step further…

Our remote-first policy has been an incredible success since its first iteration. But we wanted to continue to develop our approach to ensure our team always has the best possible working environment.

That’s why, in July 2022, we took our flexible working one step further and began trialling a 9-day fortnight.

This allows all team members to take every second Friday off, with no change to benefits or pay, and we are not expected to work condensed hours in order to make up the time off.

We trust our team to own their time and we measure team success based out outputs not hours sat at their screen, this enables our team to better balance work and life!

We rotate cover in our teams so that we continue to deliver excellent service to our clients and so team members can enjoy their time off.

Results so far in our trial have been:

  • Maintained team productivity
  • Team satisfaction score (eNPS) has increased
  • Team rate as 9.3/10 as having a positive impact on wellbeing
  • Team feel able to manage work levels within 9 days

Some feedback from Team QC includes:

“I had the best perk day last Friday, enjoying the great outdoors on a farm pumpkin, carrot and raspberry picking. Quality family time which is so precious. Thank you, QC.”

 Jackie Wakefield – SEO Lead

“Perk days have been great for getting out and about with the family. We’ve been to Chester Zoo, the Lake District and Dunham Massey for some deer spotting.”

Pete Allcock- Senior Software Sales Representative

UK Company Culture Awards finalist

“The team and I are delighted to be shortlisted. At QueryClick, we really do strive to be ahead of the curve. Creating a trusting environment where our team can do their best work is incredibly important to us.

“We have put a lot of time and thought into developing a flexible working approach that works for us as a team, rather than implementing a blanket approach.

Our flexible working practices continue to support team members to balance work with external life commitments and it’s clear from our team feedback that our approach has had a strong impact and has been truly inclusive to all.“
