Liverpool-based ‘Marketing for Good Agency’, Matchstick Creative, shortlisted for ‘Best Team Culture’ award at The UK Company Culture Awards 2022
Fast-growing ‘Marketing for Good’ agency adds to 2022 success
Matchstick Creative, a Liverpool-based marketing agency, strives to deliver purpose-driven marketing that does good. With a fast-growing team they can now add another achievement to 2022; reaching the prestigious shortlist for ‘Best Team Culture’ at The UK Company Culture Awards 2022.
The Awards recognise and celebrate companies who share values, care and nurture their workforce and create a workplace environment that is beyond just an office space, even when remote.
With a company culture built on empathy, trust and mutual respect, Matchstick Creative have instilled an environment where nothing is more important than the team’s wellbeing. With fully flexible working that is designed to work with the team’s lifestyles, commitments and priorities – and a dog-friendly office – culture is the lifeblood of the company and at the centre of all business planning.
Providing the team with regular social events and a committed wellbeing fund that gives every employee £25 a month to spend on anything that makes them feel good, ensures that all colleagues feel valued and part of a team with a shared goal. With company values such as ‘Be Yourself’ and ‘Always Be Learning’, team members are supported through their own learning journey to develop their skills.
Afternoon learning sessions are also a regular fixture in everyone’s calendars, which sees each Matchstick deliver a special session focused on whatever they choose – topics have included everything from Slasher films to accessibility in the design process! Shared ownership is heavily encouraged across the business, with a flat team structure ensuring that projects are worked on based on skill, instead of position.
This empathetic stance has already seen proven results; with four new hires in the last two months and three promotions in the last four years. The agency has only seen one colleague leave the business to pursue a different career path in the entire lifetime of the company.
Alongside growing the agency itself, a new way of networking has also branched out from a need to connect with each other in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Firestarters has become a platform for good for purpose-driven people from all backgrounds and industries. In its pilot year, the sister networking and events brand has already:
- Hosted 3 public events
- Had Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram as a guest speaker
- Hosted 4 private/paid events with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Growth Platform, NP11, and Cheshire and Merseyside Health
- Was sponsored by FORM for 3 events in 2022
- Was commissioned to do 3 events with the Good Business Festival
- Featured 20 guest speakers
